Ms. Tanisha Shetty's Journey

Education


Tanisha Shetty is a Clinical Psychologist with a Master of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuroscience. She also earned a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, English, and History from St. Agnes College, Mangalore.

Experience and Association


Tanisha is registered as a Clinical Psychologist with the Rehabilitation Council of India. She has built a strong foundation in clinical practice through her training at NIMHANS, where she collaborated with multidisciplinary teams across various settings. This experience equipped her with essential skills for assessing and treating a range of mental health conditions. Her work in school environments provided her with valuable insights into the challenges faced by children and adolescents, deepening her understanding of their varying needs. In her private practice, she has had the opportunity to work with clients of varying ages and backgrounds, including those from diverse cultural communities, which has enriched her perspective and informed her therapeutic approach.

Publications


Tanisha has published ‘The Fundamentals of Indian Personality: An Investigation of The Big Five’ in the Indian Journal of Psychiatry. This study analysed key personality traits among a diverse group of individuals with the aim of uncovering how these traits are expressed in the Indian context, providing valuable insights into the unique aspects of personality in this cultural setting.

Beliefs and Areas of Interest


Tanisha approaches psychotherapy from a person-centred and systemic perspective, believing that effective therapy must be uniquely tailored to each individual’s needs. She is particularly passionate about adolescent and young adult mental health, and the intersections of culture and identity, especially concerning third-culture kids and the diaspora experience.
